The IC service on the lines of the Hungarian State Railways (MÁV) is since 2nd June 1991. The first IC line was Budapest-Miskolc with train names: Lillafüred, Szinva, Sajó, Borsod and Hám;or. From 27th September 1992 the second IC line has opened between Budapest and Nyíregyháza. The train names are: Hajdú, Délibáb, Hortobágy, Szabolcs and Nyírség. Two years later IC trains has started to run from Budapest to Pécs and Szeged. And in 1995 the Budapest-Sopron and Szombathely line were established.
The first IC coaches were renewed from old MÁV coaches. But last
year
3 new EMU-s were purchased from
GANZ-HUNSLET, and these trains are working on the Budapest-Szeged line now.
