The very first passenger train hauled by Di 8. Night train 476 (Bodo ^Ö Trondheim) passes Midtsandan station June the 6th 1999. They had to use Di 8 and generator wagon because the ordinary Di 4 collapsed.

NSB purchased 20 Di8 locomotives that were delivered in 1996. Di 8 is a modern three-phase asynchronous locomotive with AC generator inverters for traction and auxiliaries. All Di 8 "live" in Trondheim, but you can find them from Bodo in north to Stavanger in southwest.
